Yogabomb Founder

Please don't be put off if you have never done yoga before or aren't sure if it's right for you. Come along and give it a try, you’ve got nothing to loose... except missing out on meeting an awesome group of people!

The Yogabomb community is so special. It’s totally welcoming, relaxed, friendly and we always have a really good laugh.

A massive part of what makes Yogabomb so special is the Yogabomb team, I could not do it without them.

The team are a real eclectic mix, with a wide range of ages, experience, trainings and styles, each bringing their own talent, personality and energy to the studio.

They have such a strong base of knowledge from which to create amazing classes, some with years of experience, others fresh out of training. I strongly believe in giving newly qualified teachers space to find their feet, discover their vibe and start to fly.

Make sure you try classes with the full range of our team, they all have their own magic which they can’t wait to share with you

Much love, Lou. xx

Tori

Studio Instructor

Tori is a part time doctor at York Hospital and a full time yogi. She has been practicing yoga for over ten years and teaching for the last four years. She first found yoga as a way to slow down and reconnect, as it offered an accessible route into mindfulness. Now she loves the strength and energy she can create in her flows, experimenting with inversions, heart openers and backbends.

Creative flows and a good sweat in the heat are on offer with her at Yogabomb!

Imogen

A yoga teacher at the age of 16, her practice has guided her through all the tumultuous years of school to graduating university.

Imogen has over ten years of yoga experience, teaching in York and Los Angeles with 500hr Hatha & Svivandana Training with the IYN and 200hr Ashtanga & Vinyasa Training with the Yoga Alliance.

Imogen’s approach to yoga has always been holistic, she loves building up a sweat and curating a challenge for her students, but also deeply values an inward, spiritual take on yoga, including an introduction to sound therapy.

Imogen’s ethos is that a journey in yoga is fruitful and beneficial when you are always ready to explore and learn. If you are looking to widen your horizons and be kept on your toes, Imogen’s class will suit you perfectly.

Emel

Studio Instructor

You will see a twinkle in her eyes when someone says “I’m too old or not flexible enough to do yoga”, because her journey with yoga started at 33 years old after having major back surgery.

She was lucky enough to survive a traffic accident at the age of 18 and was always in pain and couldn’t do any exercises. Back surgery was her last call and she discovered yoga during recovery and fell in love with it. Then she decided to become a yoga teacher to help others who suffer from injuries.

Her teacher training in Thailand in 2013 turned her life around and since then she has never stopped teaching and upgrading her skills.

After teaching over 5K hours of yoga, she has every right to say “if I can do yoga, you can do it too” She thrives seeing the change in her students and is very proud to see her oldest student who turned 80 years old and was be able to complete 108 Sun Salutations to celebrate his birthday.

You might find her flow yoga style with a sprinkle of spirituality because she is also a holistic healer and brings her magic everywhere she goes, on and off the mat.

Rhiannon

Studio Instructor

Rhiannon is a former competitive gymnast and British Army officer. She practised yoga intermittently as a complement to her rigorous physical training. Then, a difficult operational deployment saw her turn to a regular and consistent practice as a form of moving meditation and therapy. She undertook yoga teacher training intending to deepen her own practice, but soon found immense joy in teaching, too.

In her classes, Rhiannon encourages consistency and a focus on how the practise feels, guiding her students to strike a balance between effort and ease. She incorporates creative sequencing, functional movement, yin, hands on adjustments and guided meditation.

Katie

Studio Instructor

Katie discovered yoga while she was a collegiate athlete struggling with over-training and overwhelming changes in her body. The practice spoke to her in a language she could understand, movement. Through her practice, Katie learned to work with her body instead of against it, while also finding emotional peace and spiritual connection. Katie’s study of yoga naturally progressed from a 200-hour certification in vinyasa yoga to a 500-hour certification in yoga for the subtle body. Later she studied in specialized trainings for trauma-informed yoga and yoga therapy. Katie has taught in Ohio, California, Hawaii, Florida, and most recently has found a yoga home here in York at Yogabomb. Katie’s intention is to share practices which root students within themselves, leaving their bodies, minds, and hearts nourished.

Mary

Studio Instructor

Movement is medicine that’s what they say. Exploring movement became Mary’s journey, and yoga came with her on the path.

Benefiting her personally when she began to hear an internal cry of something’s got to change! The changes yoga taught her and continue to are beyond what she could imagine.

Exploring different modalities allowed her to develop an awareness for the requirement of diversity within movement, as well a unique energy brought to the yoga mat. Using expressive creativity through transitions sometimes fast, sometimes slow, some times deep holds to nourish and let go.

Mary drives her practice with a mission to share this soup for the soul in a cohesive blend of fluidity, conscious awakening and connection throughout the body.

She hopes you walk away from the classes feeling a wonderful exploration of self walking a little taller in your own body and looking forward to coming back for the next one.

Joanna

Studio Instructor

Joanna is a creative, initially working as a Fair Trade product designer for 15 years travelling extensively around the world. She found a connection with India in this time and this is where her love of Yoga began. In 2015 she retrained as a yoga teacher and became a self-employed designer jeweller. She now loves the blend of living through and sharing the two - creating jewellery and flows!

Originally training in a dynamic vinyasa flow and Ayurveda she has continued collecting knowledge through trainings, intensives and experiences, completing most of her learning in Asia including yin and meditation.

As a yoga teacher she finds joy in extending the authentic teachings and wisdom of yoga from India, and hopes that students gain a deeper understanding of the practice which they can incorporate into their daily lives.

Find Joanna teaching and sharing heart felt, creative, uplifting yet calming flows in the Yogabomb studio! With a focus on breath and centering and bringing connection to mind, body and spirit.

Amy

Studio Instructor

Amy established her daily yoga practice in 2018, becoming quickly captivated by the calmer mind, deeper breath and physical ease it brought to her life both on and off the mat.

Yoga proved to be the perfect complement to her other physical pursuits, including cycling, climbing, strength training, hiking and beyond. Compelled to bring these transformational effects to others, she began teaching in 2020.

She strives for a balanced practice with a blend of strength, stability, mobility and flexibility. Inspiration from other movement modalities is woven into creative and playful sequences where you can have some fun and let go of taking things too seriously!

Claire

Studio Instructor

Claire discovered yoga while living in Sydney in 2015. Initially enjoying the therapeutic benefits of the physical practice, she was quickly drawn in further by the wider teachings and spiritual side of yoga. Claire found solace in yoga for several years, offering her moments of stillness while working in fast-paced healthcare communications roles within the public, private and third sectors. She completed her 200 hrs yoga teacher training with Yoga Alliance in Lancashire in 2020, and later went onto study trauma-informed yoga with Trauma Therapy Manchester, and complete several Ashtanga workshops.

She is currently completing a specialised course in yoga that supports the behaviours and challenges of children and adults with additional needs, as well as training to become an Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle Practitioner.

Claire enjoys combining three of her passions – yoga, Ayurveda, and travel – and has attended and worked at retreats across Europe, India, and Costa Rica. With deep gratitude for her teachers over the past decade, her intention is to share the healing benefits of this ancient practice in a calm and supportive manner, reaching as many people as possible.
